Parents Area : School Meals

Children have the choice of taking a dinner cooked on the premises, a school sandwich lunch or bringing a packed lunch from home. There are always two main meal choices, two sandwich choices and a choice of desserts. Prices for school meals are currently, 1.50 pounds per day or 7.50 pounds per week. If you pay weekly, monthly, half-termly or termly credits of 5p per day can be built up which can be exchanged for books at the school book fair.

Paying for a number of lunches in advance saves considerable time in the school office!

Parents are encouraged to pay by cheque and can even pay termly. We ask parents to pay for meals each Monday morning. Credits are given for any meals not taken. If you wish to change from packed lunch to school meal or vice-versa we ask that you give reasonable notice. The cook has to order food two weeks in advance and this gives her time to ensure that she has ordered the correct quantities.

The school operates a flight tray system where children queue up and are served their lunches on flight trays; they then sit down in a suitable place and eat their lunch before going out to play.

Children are also free to go home for their midday break.

From September 2001 Elloughton School has been running its own school meals' service. We have significantly improved the level of service and the quality of food provided.

We hope to build on this service and would welcome any comments on how to do so.

If you wish your child to have a mid-morning snack at playtime fruit is recommended, sweets are not allowed.
